I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy and am board certified in orthopedics. I have worked in various outpatient orthopedic settings over the course of my career (from hospital-based practices to boutique clinics) and have an interest in symptomatic hypermobility (such as hEDS/HSD) and performing artists.
As a clinician, my solo practice is focused on hEDS/HSD and performing arts. I am also a full time mom of two.
My philosophy regarding physical therapy centers on the patient-clinician partnership; on my part, that usually means a lot of listening to start, so that I can form an appropriate plan of care we agree upon that works towards goals that are meaningful to you.
I follow this up with lots of education. The more knowledgeable you are about your body, the better; for both symptomatic hypermobility and performing arts, maximizing your self-efficacy and independent management is crucial for quality of life and performance. I see myself as one part of your healthcare team and am more than happy to collaborate with others, including other physical therapists.
My hope in having this practice is to have the flexibility to fill in for gaps in care and to provide prevention and wellness services, education and physical therapy for symptomatic hypermobility and performing artists. I utilize a hands on approach with manual therapy, focus on retraining movement patterns, work to improve body/postural awareness and strengthen/stabilize where needed. I also utilize elements of the Integral Movement Method, a gentle movement approach developed by Jeannie di Bon, which is available on The Zebra Club app.
